Two Ingredients That Land Right in the Studied Range
Boron, 5 mg
Boron is the clearest match on the whole label. At 5 mg, it sits between the 3 mg dose that raised testosterone and estradiol in a seven-week trial in postmenopausal women and the 10 mg dose that raised free testosterone by 28% in a small one-week pilot study in men. Whatever boron does at a supplement dose, 5 mg is a normal, studied amount, not a token gesture.
Tongkat Ali, 100 mg
This is the one that surprised us. Our review's shorthand says studies use 200 to 400 mg, and that is true of the average trial. But one of the more rigorous ones, a 12-week study in 105 men aged 50 to 70 with low testosterone, tested exactly two doses: 100 mg and 200 mg. Five Ingredients Below Their Studied Dose
Here is what each of the five actually looks like next to its own research, plainly, without pretending the number is something it isn't.
Panax ginseng — 50 mg vs. 200 to 400 mg
Most ginseng trials, including the ones behind its reputation for circulation and mental energy, start at 200 mg and go up to 400 mg for the strongest effects. At 50 mg, this is a light touch, not a dose you would expect to notice much from on its own.
Maca root — 250 mg vs. 1,500 to 3,000 mg
The best-known libido trial ran 12 weeks at 1.5 to 3 grams a day in healthy men. ProstaVive's 250 mg is roughly a tenth of that. Maca is one of the gentler plants here regardless of dose, so this is more "present but light" than a warning sign.
Cordyceps — 250 mg vs. 1,000 to 3,000 mg
Most human trials use one to three grams a day for energy or exercise performance, and cordyceps has not been specifically studied for prostate or urinary symptoms at any dose. At 250 mg, treat this one as a traditional inclusion rather than a dosed-for-effect ingredient.

This is the one that matters most, because nettle root is the classic ingredient a prostate formula is supposed to lean on. BPH trials range from 360 mg up to 1,200 mg, and even the lowest of those is nearly double what's here.
Ashwagandha — 250 mg at 1.5% withanolides vs. 300 to 600 mg at 5%
Two numbers run light at once. The clinical guideline for ashwagandha and anxiety, set by an international psychiatric task force, recommends 300 to 600 mg standardized to 5% withanolides. Do the multiplication and this label delivers roughly 3.75 mg of actual withanolides per scoop, against 15 mg or more in a studied dose.
Fenugreek: Same Number, Different Form
Fenugreek is the biggest number on the label at 500 mg, and 500 mg is also the exact dose used in a 12-week Furosap trial that raised free testosterone and improved sperm parameters in men. That looks like a perfect match until you read the fine print: Furosap is a patented extract concentrated to 20% protodioscin, and the ProstaVive label lists plain fenugreek seed powder. Most of the human research behind fenugreek's reputation, including Furosap and the similar Testofen extract, tested a concentrated extract rather than the whole ground seed.
A gram of powder and a gram of a 20%-protodioscin extract are not delivering the same amount of active compound, even at an identical number on a label. That doesn't mean 500 mg of seed powder does nothing — fenugreek seed has centuries of traditional use behind it — but the direct study comparison this whole page is built on doesn't carry over cleanly for this one ingredient.
Artichoke: Close on Dose, Light on Potency
Artichoke extract sits at 300 mg, standardized to 5% cynarin. On raw milligrams, that's within reach of the 320 to 640 mg range used in the largest artichoke trials, for cholesterol and digestive complaints. The standardization is the part that falls short: the general benchmark for a standardized artichoke leaf extract is at least 20% cynarin, four times what's on this label. A lower-potency extract at a near-adequate dose is a different product than a high-potency extract at the same dose, even though both would print "300 mg" on a panel.
The One Ingredient With No Study to Compare It To
Zinc is on this label at 12 mg, a little above the RDA of 11 mg for adult men. Men with BPH do tend to have lower zinc in their prostate tissue than men without it, and that association is real and published. What doesn't exist, in any trial we could find, is a study that gave men a specific zinc dose and measured whether it improved BPH symptoms. So there's no study dose to hold 12 mg up against, the way there is for nettle root or ginseng.
What 12 mg actually is: a full day's zinc requirement, safely under the 40 mg upper limit, delivered as a nutritional top-up rather than a therapeutic attempt at a symptom nobody has dosed zinc for yet. The Six Plants Nobody Can Add Up
The last line on the panel is a 200 mg "Proprietary Blend" of beet, alfalfa, blackcurrant, broccoli, pomegranate and raspberry. This is the one place the label doesn't break out individual amounts, so there's no way to know if one plant makes up 150 mg and the other five share 50 mg, or if it's closer to an even split. Six plants sharing 200 mg puts a hard ceiling on what any one of them could realistically be doing, no matter how the blend is proportioned. We're naming it rather than skipping it, because a review that transcribes nine ingredient doses and stays quiet about the tenth line isn't actually being complete.
So, Does the Dosing Actually Work?
Line the nine plants up and the picture is more textured than either "clinically dosed" or "underdosed junk," the two claims you'll find on other pages about this product, on the rare page that makes any claim at all. Boron and Tongkat Ali land inside real studied ranges. Fenugreek matches on weight but not on form. Artichoke is close on dose and light on potency. Is 100 mg of Tongkat Ali actually a meaningful dose?
